Belaruskali projects $350m for modernization in 2015

OAO Belaruskali plans to inject nearly $350 million in its modernization in 2015, BelTA learnt from Belaruskali Director General Ivan Golovaty.

The resources will be used to conduct building operations, increase the production capacity of the granulated product and other projects. “We plan to complete the upgrade within the next two years in order to increase the output of the granulated product to 80%,” the Director General said. Today the share of granulated products in Belaruskali's production makes up nearly 60%.

The recent modernization resulted in the reduction of capital consumption to 44%. According to the Belaruskali Director General, it is a good level for the mining industry. “Resources spent on upgrading bring results,” Ivan Golovaty added.

The company continues the construction of a mining and processing factory in Petrikov. Its first stage will be commissioned in 2019. “I believe the project will promote the development of the potash sector in particular and the region in general,” the Director General said.

“As for Belaruskali operation, the company has been working stably,” Ivan Golovaty added.

The public joint-stock company (OAO) Belaruskali is one of the largest producers and exporters of potassium fertilizers in the world. According to the International Fertilizer Industry Association, Belaruskali accounts for one-seventh of the world's output of potassium fertilizers. Belaruskali exports the merchandise to over 70 countries. The enterprise operates four mining departments and several auxiliary and service subdivisions.
